50th Day Celebration!

We had a fun week in room 206! We cannot believe we have already finished 50 days of school! On Thursday, we had a fun-filled day with 50's activities to celebrate everything we have learned so far this year in Kindergarten.

For reading, we did a race to 50 activity where we could only color our game board if we got the letter name and the letter sound right. During math, we also made 50 tallies, made patterns with 50's records, and we did a fun graphing activity with the number 50, colors, and, shapes.

You will see in the pictures that we also learned one of the famous dances from the 50's: The Stroll. We made two lines on our carpet, and two kids at a time could dance down the middle. It was so much fun! Plus, we had some brave kiddos that dressed up!

Two announcements/reminders for next week are to check out the Scholastic Book Orders for December. They will be due on the 30th of November. Also, our class donated 64 items for the Stuff-a-Truck for the holiday season, so I promised fun treats and a Thanksgiving activity for Wednesday, the last day before Thanksgiving Break. Here's to a short week!

Happenings in Room 206

Hi everyone! I had a few spare minutes this evening, so I thought I better get a new post up. I have a few announcements for the week. First of all, remember our 50's day for the 50th day will happen on Thursday!

50’s Day on the 50th Day of School

Thursday, November 15th is the 50thDay of School

We invite students to join us in celebrating

by dressing in 50s fashions.

Some ideas are: bobby socks, long skirts and pony tails tied with ribbons for the girls.  For the boys: white t-shirts, jeans rolled up, slicked hair, etc.  Have fun being creative with this, but please don’t feel like you need to go buy anything new!  We are really looking forward to celebrating everything we have learned so far
in the first 50 days of the school year!

Another announcement is that we made a book of our best writing in October! We got to pick our writing that had the best finger spaces, illustration, letters, words, and punctuation. We were really proud of ourselves. If you go to the top of my homepage, you will find a link for the Sibley Kindergarten Wiki. Once there, click on "Class Books,"then scroll down to "Miller," and click "October Best Writing."

Please remember to send book orders along with a check or order online for the November catalog by November 16th. This week, I will be sending the December Scholastic Book order forms home, and they can be turned in by the 30th of November. There are some really great ideas and prices for Christmas presents! If you want me to keep it a secret from your little one, just let me know.

I wanted to add some more picture this week, and I thought I would add some pictures of our favorite things. We love learning, but we especially love learning when we get to interact with our letters and do hands-on activities as we learn our math. Check out some pictures from ABC/Word work and math!

Happy Halloween!

We had a wonderful Halloween party in room 206 thanks to our fantastic room parent, Danielle! The kids had so much fun! We got to make treat bags, eat lots of fun Halloween food, and paint our own gourds. Other teachers from Sibley had to come to our room because they heard how amazing it was. A lot of time and effort was put into the party for the kids, and I am really thankful for Danielle and her husband Alan. We cannot wait for our Christmas party! It will be here before we know it.

I wanted to remind everyone of the book orders that were sent home last week. Inside the orders, you can find some really great deals, especially with the holiday season coming up. Please take a look and take advantage of those opportunities.

Take a look at some pictures from our Halloween party.
