It's been too long! My cousin is at my house tonight getting her resume and cover letter ready as she begins to apply for special education teaching positions. As she is busy on her computer, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to update my blog. I have so many pictures to show you from the past month or so. The pictures you will find are from Dr. Seuss week, a play that we went to at the high school put on by MSU, book review writing, the author visit, and some Native American dancing that we were able to experience.
At this time of the year, we are making sure that all students are secure in their kindergarten skills. We are really working hard on addition, subtraction, counting and money in math. We are also making sure that we are reading our just right books at school and at home to help get us to a level C by the end of kindergarten. You probably have noticed a lot of writing coming home, especially book reviews. Aren't they awesome? We are focusing on finger spaces between words, only using uppercase for the first letter of the sentence or "I" and stretching out our words with the sounds that we hear. We are also now starting to write informational reports, and it's going to be so much fun because we love nonfiction! Stay tuned to see those coming home in folders.
If you click the link below, you will find a guided reading lesson that was recorded to be put on the District's YouTube site. The kindergartners are famous and are quite proud of themselves!
We got a new projector for our smart board. The light was so bright, and we were so excited!
Meet Percy! He is my new pup. He's a 1-year old Australian shepherd and border collie mix. He sure is keeping me busy! The kindergartners love Percy stories.
