Hello Everyone! I can't believe it's October already. It's so much fun to look back and see how far the kindergartners have come in such a short amount of time. Today, as the students were working on abc/word work, read to self, and even our math practice, I had to take a moment just to appreciate each and every one of them. I was amazed when I looked out to see these little ones working independently, working cooperatively with partners, staying on task, and trying their absolute best. I have never had a class so proud of their stamina growth because of their effort.
Here are some pictures of the students on hat day last week working on reading, writing, and representing numbers.
The firefighters came last week to teach us about fire safety, and we were a great audience. We asked great questions, and of course, threw in some of our own stories, too.
We reached our 20 minute goal for stamina during read to self. The kids were so proud of themselves as you can see in the picture.
Last week, we also worked on comparing numbers as we drew two different colored cubes from a bag. First, we had to sort them by color, then, we counted each color to see which was "more" and which was "less." We then recorded our data to keep track of which color would win.
