Homecoming Festivities

We had an awesome week in Room 206! Our fun-filled week ended with an exciting assembly for homecoming: we found out about our "Stroll for a Goal" fundraiser, we sang the school song, the teachers did a dance, and the Tiger even kidnapped Mr. Williams! The kindergarteners were great role models in the gym as they sat criss-cross applesauce and kept their lips zipped.

Feel free to take a look at some of the kids that participated in our dress-up days this week. It was fun getting to see everyone's ideas!

We learned about our 5 senses this week. We read a book called Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, and we made a class book. We each had a partner that we had to draw with our sense of sight.

Mrs. Hanson taught a gym routine for the JAM World Record, a campaign that got students across the entire country exercising at the same time. At 8:30, we stopped what we were doing and did the routine. The kids loved it! Thanks Mrs. Hanson for letting us be a part of such a cool event!

Apple Week

This week was Apple Week in room 206! We read books about apples, made our own books about apples, sequenced apples with numbers for our 10 Apples Up On Top project, practiced our numbers by drawing apples in trees, and made an apple glyph after tasting apples...that's a lot of apples!

We had a birthday in our classroom family this week. Happy Birthday, Maddee! She brought us some yummy goldfish crackers and we made her a birthday book.

We have been building our stamina these first three weeks for many things in our classroom such as Writing with Tools, Read to Self, ABC Word Work, and Rest Time. We are almost at our twenty-minute goal for Read to Self. We are really proud of ourselves because we started out only being able to read independently for 4 minutes. Here are some pictures of the kids during Read to Self this week.

Fun in Room 206

What a fun couple of weeks we have had in room 206! We have been doing a lot of practicing with classroom routines and rules, so that we can be ready for the rest of the year. The kids even created their own rules for morning meeting and the classroom in general.

Some of our favorite songs from the past two weeks are Boom Chicka Boom and Letter Pop. We love singing like opera singers for Boom Chicka Boom!

We celebrated a birthday on Friday in our classroom. Happy Birthday, Maverick!

Take a look at some pictures I took while we were doing our Jack Be Nimble projects.
